Alana Chávez Langdon is a strategic minded and results-driven leader with 25+ years of expertise in government relations, policy, public affairs communications , community and industry engagement, social impact and strategic partnerships, economic business development, and international trade and commerce - holding positions in emerging transportation and energy technology companies, a large publicly traded electric utility, government organizations, communications firms, grassroots political operations, and international affairs. During her career, Alana has lived in multiple cities across the U.S. as well as abroad in Madrid, Spain and has advanced key project initiatives throughout her career in North America and Europe. 


Alana's diverse professional experience includes implementing signature external affairs related projects internationally, nationally and at the state/provincial, regional and local levels, to augment relationship building with elected and appointed government officials, staff and government agencies; achieve desired legislative and regulatory policy outcomes; secure government incentives and grant funding; enhance strategic engagement with community and industry leaders, local advocacy organizations and multicultural communities; advance public affairs messaging through targeted campaigns and grassroots outreach; and to facilitate new-build developments as well as historic rehabilitation and urban revitalization economic development projects.


In her most recent corporate roles as Director of Government Relations and Community Engagement at Fortescue Future Industries and Head of Government Affairs and Global Policy at Nikola Corporation, Alana executed international, national, state and local corporate engagement with policy leaders, government and community officials. During her executive experience, she scaled team operational growth, built out enterprise-wide government affairs, industry and community engagement strategies as well as strategically positioned company advocacy on proposed government program administrative budgets as well as legislative and regulatory policy to positively impact the market development of a clean energy and transportation economy in North American and European markets.   


Alana is a champion for the advancement of women in the corporate workplace and leading with purpose. She was the co-founder and inaugural team lead for the "Women In Nikola" (WIN) employee resource group to support, cultivate skill-building and mentor the professional growth of Nikola's female workforce.


Current and past community service includes working on issues impacting transportation, public safety, education, healthcare, international relations, urban revitalization, workforce development and vocational training as well as accessibility, diversity and inclusion - particularly programs that pertain to working with youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and who are neurodiverse living with autism.   

Esteemed recognitions include Valley Leadership’s Class 40, Phoenix Business Journal's “Forty Under 40”, Arizona’s “Who’s Who in Business 2011” - Highest Ranking Women in Business, Arizona State University Alumni Association Woman of the Year and Arizona State University Homecoming Queen.

Alana's educational achievements include earning an Executive Education Certificate in "Leading Economic Growth" from the Kennedy School of Government's Center for International Development at Harvard University and a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational and Intercultural Communication at Arizona State University.  She is currently taking additional coursework at Johns Hopkins University towards a second Master's degree in Global Security Studies, with concentrations in economic, energy and environmental security.
